Today in class we read the story "A&P by John Updike and discussed how Sammy's "perceptions" influenced his decision to do what he did....
You were asked to write from your choice of two responses:
1. Do you agree with Sammy's decision to do what he did? Why or why not?
2. What are the perceptions Sam makes about his job, the manager, the customers, the girls, and the actions he takes?

ORANGE DAY
ENGLISH 12
Today in class we went over missing grades, as progress reports come out soon....
We went over the answers to "The Bet" study guide....
We began the story "A&P" (even though we didnt get to the "reading" part of the story...haha) by reading "The House" and then talking about how we make PERCEPTIONS all the time....then we filled out the "character inventory chart" as it pertains to us....we will do it for Sammy, the main character of the story, for when we read the story next class

We studied some grammar/composition material with action and linking verbs and how they relate to sentence fluency.
We took some notes based on page 105 of the purple books...
We did exercise 67 on page 106
We will continue with these notes on Friday....we will also take a pop quiz on identifying linking and action verbs...

Today in class we read the short story "The Bet" and we answered the study guide questions that went along with the story.
For next class, all cell phones need to be placed in the back of the room on the computer cart OR at least out of sight. Any that are seen will be taken away.

We finished the epic story of "The Goonies" today....you will have your vocab quiz on THURSDAY

Today we reviewed our Greek root words and you were assigned to put each root into a REAL WORD and then use that word in a sentence....
For example:
DERM: Skin-->Dermatologist
"I went to a dermatologist because I had a rash on my arm"
