1. Vocab quiz will be on WEDNESDAY!!!

2. Public Speaking
-'would you rather' as a 'warmup' for speaking in class
-introducing how to give precise and accurate directions when explaining things
-'robber vs realtor' activity and 'laundry' activity
-'Back2Back" drawing/direction giving activity
-for next class, please come with a written example of HOW TO DO something. It can be anything (making a sandwich, changing a tire, playing cribbage, etc). Just write directions on how to do something...and prepare to share!

-reminder of composition due on Wednesday....describe the predominant mood Hamlet displays in Act 3...discussed the importance of using evidence from the text...
-assigned Act 4 "skits" and get in groups depending on which scene is assigned to you...these skits will be performed on Friday...you will have Wed. to work on them in class

-go over the study guide I gave for the section you were supposed to read in Act 3...(start where Hamlet says LET THE STRUCKEN DEER GO WEEP!" and ending where Polonius enters the scene in scene 3
-be sure to know the terms/quotes on the study guide...even though it was not collected
-View/Read film of Act 3
-Your Act 3 test...which is due next Wednesday...is to use the 'emotion sheet' I passed out and "Describe Hamlet's one PREDOMINANT emotion in Act 3." Select quotes/evidence to prove this in your writing

-test is on MONDAY--the Greek Mythology words!

-we did exercises 1-4 in the vocab books....this was not collected, but we went over it...use it to study for your test, which is on MONDAY!!!

2. You have a composition due Wednesday. I put the three prompts on the board and you must choose 1. The rubric is as follows:
25 points-2 appositives used in paper
25 points-2 participle phrases used to begin sentences
25 points-2 'complex sentences--sentence that has independent and subordinate clause--used in paper
25 points-overall effort and creativity


3. The questions on the "alien" article were collected at the end of class...

Today in class we went over the soliloquy that ended Act 2....the quote analysis of a line from that scene was collected...then we began to view the film of Act 2....there will be a test on THURSDAY on Act 2...you may not use your notes on this test...this test will be set up in such a way that I ask you to clarify/explain terms and quotes we've discussed in Act 2

-take notes on appositives, participle phrases, and infinitive phrases
-write practice exercises on page 86...this was collected for a participation grade
-you were asked to copy down the list of words that commonly begin SUBORDINATE clauses...please use each one in a sentence for next time...see me if you are confused about this...
