ORANGE DAY
COLLEGE PREP
Continue/finish going over the literary devices--their definitions, examples, etc....please bring these notes to class next time as they will be checked off!!!
COLLEGE ENGLISH 12
You were asked to skim chapter 17 and 18....but carefully read 19, 20, and 21....
A study guide for these chapters was passed out....the class was divided in half, with each half working on one side of the study guide....
We went over these chapters and took notes....
we began chapter 22 in class (as you read 22, you should make sure you know the answers to the study guide questions)
Please read through chapter 24 for Monday....we WILL DEFINITELY have a test on the notes/reading for chapters 19-24, so be prepared....you cannot use your notes on this test!

ORANGE DAY

Today we began literary terms review....we will be using literary terms when we read short stories coming up in the next couple of weeks...if you are out, get the notes you missed

Today I passed back midterm exams for you to look over before I collected them again...
For MONTE CRISTO, I showed a few clips of the film in order to help you better comprehend what is going on (especially since we havent read in over a week because of midterms!)....
We began reading at chapter 17....we read some in class....chapter 17 and 18 can be skimmed (or even skipped)...but please carefully read chapter 19, 20, and 21 for next time!!! Remember--in chapter 20, the scene changes drastically because "The Count" emerges for the first time!!

Today we finished the film and the graphic organizer for the film was due today
Additionally, we took the vocab test today....
Reminder that your epic hero composition is due on Thursday....the prompt asked you to describe, in your own words, a "modern day epic hero" that fits at least three of the stereotypes/conventions/elements we discussed....

I gave a handout labeled "pop quiz" but it wasn't really a quiz...it was to serve as a study guide for the first few chapters....

Today we began watching THE GOONIES in order to make connections with "Epic Hero" stories...you were given a graphic organizer/epic hero chart to complete while you watch the film...this will be due and graded after the film....
Your vocab quiz has been moved to NEXT TUESDAY the 14th!!!!

Today you received your copy of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO and I recorded your book number....
We went over the expectations for the book (no phone while reading aloud, etc)....see me if you were not here today!!!
We took some notes on the philosophical parts of the story.....
Your assignment is to read chapters 1 THROUGH 7.
Don't forget that your vocab test is FRIDAY!!!!
