BLACK DAY
COLLEGE PREP 12
During block 1, we began our O.W.L. word list, but we had class cut short due to the fire drill and evacuation....we will finish the rest of the words list next time. During block 2 we were able to finish all the O.W.L. words and the rest of the time was used to work on the 'grammar/part of speech' compositions. BOTH CLASSES: Your compositions are due on Monday. Remember, that if you do not have it by then, you may use one of your tech days to pass it in late. See me BEFOREHAND for help with the parts of speech!!!

-collect/go over/share/workshop intro paragraphs, looking for backstory, general info, thesis statement
-writing prompt with "what would you change about WHS teachers" and focus on crafting a good intro
-share my example, as well as student examples of good backstory
-writer's workshop on papers, which are due FRIDAY (NOTE: The WHOLE PAPER--not just the intro--is due Friday)

1. Brief conversation/notes/study guide on "In the Twilight" to prepare you for the short story test
2. Take short story test today
3. Remember that your vocab quiz is next class (Monday)
4. Your next composition topic is as follows. This is not due until the end of next week (perhaps Friday), but I am giving the topic to you now so you can mull it over....
"Describe an incident where a seemingly positive quality--like loyalty, pride, love, innocence, etc--can become a life damaging flaw that damages lives? Use at least one of our short stories to make your argument.
