BLACK DAY

ENGLISH 12

We read HEROES starting on page 59 and we read to the end of the chapter...

We started taking notes on similes and metaphors, and there was a short writing prompt asking you to compare yourself to a vegetable (corn, potato, asparagus, broccoli)

We discussed a little bit how table tennis in the book is a METAPHOR for "life"

We will continue with the discussion on Monday

COLLEGE PREP 12

We went over the 'in class test' for the final section of BEOWULF

We began our discussion about the stereotypes and conventions of EpicHeroStories and we did a worksheet in class

The test for BEOWULF (open note!) is on Monday

The composition is tentatively due on Wednesday....the topic is this:

Compare or contrast the character of Beowulf with a 'modern day' epic hero of your choosing. Be sure to use the 'elements' and 'stereotypes'  of epic hero stories that we discussed while writing. See me with any questions!
