ORANGE DAY

COLLEGE PREP 12

1. "The Lottery"
-write about contrasting images in story....
-discuss story as a whole...talk about symbolism and typological names....
-assign paper that will be due next WEDNESDAY: Think about traditions, such as the tradition of "The Lottery." Many things we do in our culture and society are harmful, meaningless, or obsolete. How can traditions be 'bad' in our culture? How can they (intentionally or unintentionally) be harmful, meaningless, obsolete, or offensive?

COLLEGE PREP 9

1. Literary Terms Test!!
2. The Most Dangerous Game
-discuss story... "land novel" definition, etc
-do in class 'test' (NOTE: this is not a test, necessarily....it is a participation grade to help us talk about the story....)and finish it for Monday!
3. Vocab
-put your homonym words in sentences so we can review!

HONORS

1. "The Lottery"
-finish all notes about story...typological names, contrasting images, etc
-group discussion on how traditions can be harmful, offensive, obsolete, etc....each group present based on the three questions I proposed on the board
2. "A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner
-please read this story for Monday. See me if you want a paper copy...but find it online otherwise!!
