SUBSTITUTE PLANS
JARED GOLDSMITH
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 15
2017
BLOCK 1 ENGLISH 12:
This class often has a difficult time focusing. It is a large class
for a level 2 English class. There are many fantastic kids in this
class. Several of these students may/should leave to go work in Mr
Redwine's and Mr Carey's learning centers. This is totally fine. I
have told the students ahead of time that you would be here today,
and I have also told them the plan. The plan, as I told them, is to
put their vocabulary words in sentences (complete sentences that
illustrate that they understand the word's meaning). Please tell them
that I will collect this on Tuesday for a participation grade!!! They
may need to use the Chromebooks for this, and some students
legitimately used their phones to look up the definitions. The
students were told to bring the words with them. I will list the
vocab words at the end of this plan, as another class today has the
same list (*note*This class does not have ALL the words on the list I
leave you with! They should know which ones they have!). When the kids
are done with their vocab work, they were told they could read their
choice books/magazines to work towards their book-talk projects OR
they could work on other work for class, but they must do it
respectfully and quietly. If anyone is not doing this, please feel
free to ask them to leave the class and go visit Mr Hendsbee. Thanks!
BLOCK 2 STUDY HALL:
Many kids sign out to go places. Kids sign out in the blue binder on
the file cabinet by the door. A nice small study hall!

BLOCK 3 COLLEGE
ENGLISH 12: A wonderful class thus far! I told them the plan
beforehand as well. Please have them look up the words to their first
vocab list. Again, I have included the words on this plan (so you can
write them on the board...or they might already be up there). IN
ADDITION, as I told all classes, I will post this exact sub plan on
my web site at www.goldsmithenglish.blogspot.com.
After kids are done looking up their words, they may work on their
independent reading books OR they may work on other work quietly.
(NOTE) Students may be
allowed to use their electronic device or Chromebooks to look up word
definitions.
BLOCK 4 COLLEGE ENGLISH 12: Another fantastic class. Please have them
do same as Block 3!!
Please be sure to make kids TURN OFF Chromebooks and PLUG THEM IN
when done!
Thanks for subbing for me. As always, if there are any questions, see
Ellen or Jenn!!!
