SENIOR CLASSES
Today we did two things: We took our final quizzes on the end of the book (Please bring MONTE CRISTO with you to class next time so I can collect them!) and we continued viewing the film. We have about 15 minutes left for Monday, and then we will start our argumentative writing unit!

We took a lot of background notes and info on Shakespeare and his world today...make sure you take good notes!! We will begin the reading of ROMEO AND JULIET on Monday. Also, your vocab test is on Monday!

1. Grammar-subject/verb agreement
-work in grammar texts, doing exercises on page 86-89
-be sure to take notes on plural vs singular subjects and verbs
-be sure to take notes on kernel sentences!
-go over exercises as class to reinforce understanding!
-work in combination with vocab words to craft sentences that start with the special subjects that we listed on the board...use correct verb tense...

Today we finished the ETHAN FROME film and you were reminded about the in class essay that will make up the 'test' for the book. Due to time constraints, I would like you work on the essay for a bit at home and know that I will give you the first 25 minutes of class to 'write' on Thursday before they are collected. 1. Today we had the Monte Cristo character matching quiz
2. We then began our discussion of ETHOS as a Greek rhetorical tool...we discussed how Monte Cristo uses it to affect his relationships with characters...and then we read the article on political ethos in our culture...be sure to answer the questions I wrote on the board....
3. Remember that I will not be here on Wednesday....your sub will give you the plan for class...be sure to bring your ethos articles and questions for Friday please!

1. You were supposed to finish the book for today, and we discussed the ending of the story; this led into the assigning of the final paper (this will be an IN CLASS essay to be done after the film). We will start the film next time, and you may use your film experience to help you with the paper; I will collect books after the film is over. You were instructed to copy down the essay assignment from the board, so you could be thinking about it until we actually do it in class. It concerned the idea of LIVING vs SURVIVING as it pertains to the story...see me if you have any questions! You should have copied it down!!

Ethan From paper was due today....we went over the chapter that was to be read for today, and we began reading the final chapter of the novel....I would like you to please finish the novel for Wednesday....please dont forget that you have your vocab quiz on Wednesday, and if you make your five sentences FACTUALLY about the final chapter of Ethan Frome, then you can earn five extra points...FUN!

-fulfill most of character list...take good notes as we will have char matching quiz next week!
-collect papers due today!
-explain 'new style' of teaching the book...at this point, I want to continue on your own with the story--perhaps reading 30ish pages each day--and finish it on your own and we will have a test RIGHT after vacation...this will enable us to use class time to focus on some more of the transcendent and thematic elements of the story ....

Is it a physical, mental, or emotional problem? Why? What is his biggest problem?
