BLACK DAY
1. Go over any missing work you might have outstanding!!!
2. Collect expository writing prompt with grammatical focus correction areas....
3. HAMLET-begin all!!!
-->Today we talked about the history/time period of the play and what the "culture" was like when Shakespeare wrote this play...we discussed the relevance of Shakespeare as he has invented words/phrases and perfected the usage of puns...We did not get too much into the themes and characters....we will do this next time

Today we used our Greek Root Vocabulary books and did exercises 1, 2, 3, and 4 for unit one...this was done in class....we went over it, and it was collected as a participation grade....

Grammar/Composition
-worksheet identifying the correct verb in the sentence (linking or action)
-go over worksheet
-practice writing (modifying and enriching) sentences from ex 12 on page 110 (I didnt pass out the books...I just dictated the sentences to you)
-all notes were collected
-the "test" for all this grammar and composition stuff was assigned....it is an expository writing prompt where you must utilize elements of what we have gone over...see me if you need clarification on the assignment...

Today in class we worked on our next list of Greek root vocab words...if you missed them, come and see me, as you can copy them out of the vocabulary book we will be using for the next few weeks!

Today in class we read the story "A&P by John Updike and discussed how Sammy's "perceptions" influenced his decision to do what he did....
You were asked to write from your choice of two responses:
1. Do you agree with Sammy's decision to do what he did? Why or why not?
2. What are the perceptions Sam makes about his job, the manager, the customers, the girls, and the actions he takes?
