BLACK DAY
COLLEGE PREP 11
1. Ethän Frómē
-we discussed chapter 1, referring to the notes on the study guide
-we began reading chapter 2 in class
-please finish chapter 2 AND chapter 3 for next time AND be sure to explain the deeper meanings for the quotes from chapter 2 (on the back of the study guide we worked on today)
-we will almost DEFINITELY have a reading check quiz on chapter 2 and 3 this Thursday

-finish all notes
-begin reading in class together...

1. Due to the fact that we were missing about half the class, we did not begin our next book...we will do this next time
2. We DID, however, do our next vocab list...if you were absent, please copy this as soon as possible...the vocab is from the first few chapters of our next book....
DUAL ENROLLMENT
1. We spent some time in the purple grammar books going over misplaced modifiers and dangling modifiers....we did several exercises and went over them
2. You should prepare for a quiz to be taken on WEDNESDAY on correcting these types of sentences
3. We were going to start our next vocab list (Greek roots) but ran out of time...

*we did not do ALL of the lesson plan since we were missing half the class today...no books were given out

-explain info writing and connection to Smarter Balance Assessment
-copy down question VERBATIM from the board
-answer the question on the article, taking time to also include at least one adjective phrase and one adverb phrase in your writing

-pass out and work on 'newspaper packets,' trying to correct individual sentences in order to make them more clear...correct errors, etc

-briefly begin the intro of the book together, discussing the char. of Ethan....you do NOT have to read for homework, as we will 'officially' start on Friday with the book

-assign assignment for next time-Write a good INTRODUCTION and the FIRST BODY PARAGRAPH for the following prompt: "One thing I would change about Winslow High School is _______"
3. Begin talking about MonteCristo stuff....just briefly

-work in class on college essay (use common app prompt or own prompt)...remember that your essay must have AT LEAST FIVE underlined sentence that 'showcase' the sentence variety stuff we have been working on...this means that you should begin your sentences with participle phrases, adverb phrases, or prepositional phrases!
