COLLEGE ENGLISH
Today in class we went over chapters 21, 22, and 23 with a study guide and some notes....make sure you get the notes you missed....
You were assigned your next composition and this is due next THURSDAY...be sure to see me for details....
Your next reading assignment is to read chapters 24-27....here is a hint: Focus on the RELATIONSHIPS the Count is trying to develop with his "enemies"and this will help you with your composition....

ENGLISH 12
Today we read section 2 of BEOWULF and there was a study guide to do while you read....
COLLEGE ENGLISH
Today we took notes on a powerpoint slide show....we discussed Alexander Dumas' usage of "religious undertones" in THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO....if you were out, please be sure you get the notes from someone....we also discussed chapters 18-20 to make sure people were all set with that...for next class, please read chapters 21, 22, and 23....and, as always, PLEASE see me with questions!!

Please follow the orange day plan from yesterday....make sure you have the definitions for the vocabulary words!!! You will need to know them for the midterm exam!!!!

Today we did booktalks and they were excellent! I will not see you in class before the midterm, so please see me if you have any questions on the reading THROUGH chapter 17. The test will encompass ALL of our MONTE CRISTO material thus far. You CAN use your notes, but not your books!

Today we took notes on the background of the BEOWULF story..then, we began reading aloud in class the section called "The battle with Grendel"....as we read, we stopped to take notes on what was happening in the section...we read up to the top of page 15....

First of all, your BOOK TALKS have been moved to WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!
Today in class you were to have read chapters 7 thru 12....we took a short reading quiz on that section....then, a study guide was handed out and we went over all the terms on the study guide....your next assignment (which will be due Friday because book talks are on Wed) will be to read chapters 13 thru 17!!!!

ORANGE DAY

Due to yesterday's snow day--and the fact that the black day class is now two classes behind--we used class as a work day to get things done that were not done. See me if you were absent!
COLLEGE ENGLISH
Due to yesterday's snow day, we used today as a catch-up day..."technically" you should be ready to present your book talk on Monday (1/14) but we will push those ahead one day (so we will do them on Wednesday!)...be sure to read through chapter 12 for next class!! Expect a quiz!! Maybe we will...maybe we won't...

Due to the snow and inclement weather, we were missing many students...we took our open note quiz on the beginning/history of BEOWULF....so, if you were absent, please see me about making this up!
COLLEGE ENGLISH
Quiz on first 6 chapters of MONTE CRISTO....then we went over the answers....we then took notes and had a discussion on the first 6 chapters...notes were taken! We began reading tonight's assignment aloud....the assignment is to read chapters 7 THROUGH 12 (we read chapter 7 and most of 8 in class)

Today we began talking about our next unit, which is BEOWULF....we read some background info on the story and the time period....you were asked to read pages 3-8 and take notes for a participation grade! Hang on to your stuff!! Eventually it will be collected!!!

Today we began information about our next unit: THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO.. Books were not distributed today....but we did take some background information on the book, and we wrote answers to some "value brief" questions, which we then discussed!
If you are absent during this unit, you can ALWAYS ASSUME CORRECTLY that there are notes for you to make up/copy!!
