SUB PLANS
JARED GOLDSMITH
MAY 12, 2017
Good morning. I have
told all of my classes what the assignment would be when I was out,
so this should be familiar to them. Additionally, I have posted this
lesson plan on my class blog at www.goldsmithenglish.blogspot.com.
Thanks!
BLOCK 1: ENGLISH
12-A small, great group of kids. Please have them get one of the
“Latin and Greek Root Vocab” books (on the metal shelf by the
green grammar books). Please instruct them to work on the “Unit
Ten” words on beginning on page 60. They should become acquainted
with the words and then write each one in an original sentence. In
addition, they should do exercises 1, 2, and 3 on pages 62, 63, and
64. Please remind them NOT to write in the books-they should do all
this work on a separate sheet of paper. Please do not collect it...I
will collect it from them on Tuesday. When they are done, they may
work on other work, read, work on Chromebooks, etc.
BLOCK 2: STUDY
HALL-You are in the commons for this study hall....they are a great
group of kids as well! Usually, some of the girls ask to go grab a
Chromebook from the library...this is fine. Usually Nate goes to the
library and usually Gabe goes to Mrs Houston's room (usually...they
may not). At any rate, they should check in with you before they
leave. Additionally, Samantha Decker usually checks in and goes to
the art room. Just make sure the kids check in with you first.
FOCUS TIME: Most of
the homeroom kids will come back for this 25 minute time...they will
work on homework, etc...
BLOCK 3 (you eat
first lunch)
CREATIVE
WRITING-These folks were told to continue working on their
“elaborative detail stories” that we have been talking about.
Please inform them that I would like them to pass something into me
on Tuesday. Usually, on Fridays, I let the creative writing class
work on things that “enhance” their creative energy like reading,
writing, etc. Kids will most likely be on Chromebooks working. Some
kids may be done with their stories, and if they want to work on
other work that is fine. It is totally fine if some of them go sit in
the hallway outside my room—a few of them often do that, and they
work quietly.
BLOCK 4: COLLEGE
PREP 12-A great group of seniors who are all terrific people....but
who are totally tired of being in school! I have talked to them in
advance about me being out. Please have them follow Block 1's plan
with the vocabulary work, etc. Please be sure to only allow one
student at a time to leave for bathroom, locker, etc. Like I said,
they are a great group of kids, and I am really counting on them to
show some leadership.
Thanks for your help
today! If there are any problems, please see Ellen Pinkham (outside
my door, diagonally left across the hall) as she is our dept. head. I
hope you have an enjoyable day!
